We use prepositions of place to say where someone or something is. These words help us describe positions.
Common prepositions:
on: touching the top of something
in: inside something
under: below something
next to: beside
behind: at the back of something
in front of: before or ahead
between: in the middle of two things
over: above (not touching)
near: close to
opposite: directly across from
Examples:
The book is on the table.
The cat is under the chair.
