Weather is something we talk about every day. It tells us if the day is hot or cold, rainy or sunny, cloudy or windy. Knowing how to talk about the weather is useful in many situations — when you meet someone, when you decide what to wear, or when you make plans. In this activity, you will learn easy words to describe the weather and understand short sentences like ‘‘It’s raining’’ or ‘‘It’s sunny today.’’ You will also learn how the weather can change in different places and seasons. By the end, you’ll be able to answer the question: ‘‘What’s the weather like?’’ — and describe the sky, the temperature, and the clothes people wear. Let’s get started!

Vocabulary:
• Sunny – the sun is shining
• Cloudy – many clouds in the sky
• Windy – the air is moving fast
• Rainy – water is falling from the sky
• Snowy – snow is falling
• Stormy – strong wind and rain
• Foggy – the air is full of mist, hard to see
• Hot – very warm
• Cold – not warm
• Warm – between cold and hot
• Dry – no rain or water
• Wet – with water or rain
• Umbrella – used to stay dry in the rain
• Boots – shoes for cold or wet weather
• Coat – long warm jacket
