Grammar rules:
These four words help describe how much or to what degree something is true. They are less strong than ''very'' but stronger than ''a little.''
We use them before adjectives and adverbs:
quite: ''It’s quite cold.'' (= a little cold, but not very)
pretty: ''She’s pretty famous.'' (= quite famous, informal)
rather: ''It’s rather hot today.'' (= stronger than ''quite'', often for negative or surprising things)
fairly: ''The movie was fairly good.'' (= okay, not great)
Word order examples:
''It’s quite a nice day.''
''He’s rather tired.''
''She’s pretty good at English.''
''My room is fairly big.''
