The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 presented many new and exciting technologies, but one product stood out: the LEGO Smart Brick. This small computer brings LEGO sets to life by allowing characters and vehicles to interact in smart and playful ways. The Smart Brick uses NFC tags, Bluetooth, and sensors to recognize which characters are placed inside vehicles and where they are positioned.
For example, when Luke Skywalker is placed in an X-Wing, the brick knows who he is and what vehicle he is in. If R2-D2 is added, the set can perform a barrel roll and play sounds like R2-D2 screaming. Different LEGO ships, such as an X-Wing and Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, can even “fight” each other. The brick tracks hits and reacts with sounds and actions.
The Smart Brick also includes hidden features. When several characters are placed near it, they start speaking in a special LEGO language. A color sensor allows actions like firing blasters when a red button is pressed. Some sounds are fixed, such as the Imperial March when the Emperor is seated, but others are interactive. In the Mos Eisley Cantina, children can control music speed by moving the brick.
Although the Smart Brick increases the price of LEGO sets, it offers creative and interactive play. It is not just a concept but a real product available in March, making it one of the best inventions at CES 2026.
