AI clones are becoming increasingly present in various industries, mimicking not only voice and facial features but also thoughts. These clones are designed to assist with specific tasks , like attending meetings on behalf of people. While still in development, AI clones have potential applications in handling routine tasks such as work meetings. However, concerns about their misuse are rising, particularly in the realm of fraud. One case involved criminals using an AI clone of a company boss to trick an employee into transferring $25 million in a fraudulent deal, marking one of the first AI-enabled scams during a video call. As AI voice cloning becomes more common, scammers need only a few seconds of voice data to create realistic clones. Despite the risks, there is optimism about AI clones’ future potential, especially in automating tasks. However, ensuring the authenticity of people in meetings is becoming a critical concern as this technology advances.
