Foldable smartphones are becoming a new trend in the mobile phone market. These phones can bend and open like a book, giving users a larger screen for work, games, and AI tools. Samsung and Huawei were the first companies to invest in this technology, with devices like the Galaxy Fold and Flip. Other brands, such as Google, Motorola, and Chinese companies like Huawei and Xiaomi, have also released their own foldables. Even Nokia has returned with modern flip phones. At first, foldables were heavy, expensive, and not very strong. But now, new models are thinner, lighter, and more durable. Prices are also slowly going down, which makes them more attractive to customers. In Asia, especially in South Korea and China, these phones are more popular. However, worldwide, foldables still represent less than 2% of smartphone sales. Apple is expected to enter the foldable market in 2026. Analysts believe this could make foldable phones more mainstream and change the premium smartphone market.
