China is rapidly becoming a global leader in embodied AI, which refers to artificial intelligence integrated into physical robotic bodies. From industrial automation and autonomous vehicles to humanoid robots and AI pets, Chinese companies are rolling out increasingly advanced technologies. These robots come equipped with sensors, motors, and natural-language processing, allowing them to interact with humans and their environment in lifelike ways.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China produced nearly 100 embodied AI products in the past year and holds 70% of the global market share. This dominance is due to China’s strong supply chains, advances in AI, and state investments. The central government has launched a $138 billion venture fund to support development in humanoid robotics for both industrial and personal use. As a result, job openings in this sector have quadrupled, and salaries for AI engineers are rising.

One standout company is Hangzhou-based Unitary, which offers a humanoid robot named G1 for $16,000 and a more affordable model called Goto at $1600. These robots can perform tasks like running, jumping, and delivering coffee. Other companies are developing inspection and diagnostic bots for use in dangerous or unreachable places.

With government backing and a growing market, China is poised to flood global markets with embodied AI products. Whether we like it or not, we may be witnessing the future of robotics and human interaction.
