The use of AI in the workplace is often shaped by the emotions and perspectives of workers. Research has identified five types of personas that explain how people relate to AI. The first is the "maximalist," who embraces AI and uses it actively. The "underground" persona also uses AI, but hides their usage due to feelings of guilt, worried that others might think they are cheating. The other three personas are less engaged with AI. The "rebel" feels threatened by AI, while the "superfan" is excited about it but does not know how to start using it. The "observer" is cautious and not actively involved but is waiting to see how AI develops. Despite these varying attitudes, trust is a significant barrier. Only 7% of workers trust AI fully, and trust in managers plays a key role in encouraging the adoption of AI. Companies need to offer clear guidelines for AI usage, ensuring transparency and catering to all personas. Research has shown that employees are more likely to use AI when companies provide proper support and guidelines. However, many workers still lack guidance on how to use AI tools effectively.
