Media Literacy Week is a time to improve our ability to think critically about the media we consume daily. Whether it's newspapers, radio, TV, or the internet, we are constantly surrounded by media. However, it's becoming increasingly difficult to separate real news from fake news, particularly with the rise of social media and AI technology. People often share information without checking if it’s true , which makes it harder to trust what we read or hear. To protect ourselves, we should question the content we see. Is the story too extreme or strange to be true ? Headlines can be misleading , so it's essential to go beyond them. We should ask: where did the story come from, and who benefits from it? Is it news, an opinion piece, satire, or even an ad? Doing quick research to verify the information from other sources is another way to ensure that we are not misled . By being aware of these strategies, we can avoid falling for fake news and become more informed consumers of media.
