The 2025 Met Gala, often called the Super Bowl of fashion, will take place on May 5th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The theme of the event is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibit accompanying the gala will showcase clothing and photography that highlight the style and cultural influence of Black men, especially through the lens of dandyism — a concept rooted in elegance and flair, dating back to the 18th century. While the dress code, titled ''tailored for you,'' offers guidance, it encourages creative interpretations and bold expressions of menswear, though strict adherence is not required.
