Conjunctions are words that connect ideas. They help us explain why something happens, show differences, and describe results. Here are four useful conjunctions:
1. However (to show contrast)
''However'' shows a difference between ideas.
It usually comes at the beginning of a sentence and is followed by a comma (,).
It was cold. However, we went for a walk.
The test was difficult. However, she passed.
2. ''Although'' (to show contrast)
''Although'' also shows contrast, but it can go at the beginning or middle of a sentence.
It is always followed by a subject + verb.
Although it was raining, we went outside.
She passed the exam although she didn’t study much.
3. ''Because'' (to show reason)
''Because'' tells us why something happens.
It is followed by a subject + verb.
We stayed home because it was raining.
He missed the bus because he woke up late.
4. ''So'' (to show result)
''So'' explains the result of an action.
It usually goes in the middle of the sentence after a comma (,).
It was hot, so we went to the beach.
She was tired, so she went to bed early.
When you know these words, it’s easier to explain ideas clearly and talk about reasons, differences, and results!
