Mixed Relative Clauses – Quick Overview
Relative clauses give extra information about a noun.
There are two main types:
1. Defining relative clauses
Give essential information.
No commas.
Ex: The manager who called you wants a meeting.
2. Non-defining relative clauses
Add extra, non-essential information.
Use commas.
Ex: My team, which works remotely, meets twice a week.
Relative pronouns
• who -> people
• which -> things
• that -> people or things (only in defining clauses)
• where -> places
• whose -> possession
