We use many, much, a lot of, lots of, some, and any to talk about quantity, but they have different uses:

Many & Much
Many - Used with countable nouns (things you can count)
There are many apples on the table.

Much - Used with uncountable nouns (things you cannot count)
I don’t drink much coffee.

A lot of & Lots of
A lot of / Lots of - Used with both countable and uncountable nouns
She has a lot of friends. (countable)
He drinks lots of water. (uncountable)

''Lots of'' is more informal than ''a lot of.''

Some & Any
Some - Used in positive sentences
I have some oranges.
There is some milk in the fridge.

Any - Used in negative sentences and questions
I don’t have any oranges.
Is there any milk in the fridge?
