Archaeologists and students from San Marcos University made a significant discovery near Lima, Peru. They found a mummified man at the Huaca La Florida archaeological site. The initial discovery was a skull wrapped in cotton, and further excavations revealed the complete mummy. The researchers believe that this person was likely a human sacrifice during the final phase of temple construction at the site. The estimated age of the mummy is around 3,000 years, belonging to the Manchay culture that existed between 1500 and 1000 BCE in the Valleys of Lima. Mummification was a common practice among indigenous people in Peru before the arrival of the Spanish colonizers.
