A venomous King Cobra, measuring 7 feet long that had escaped from its home in a Swedish Zoo has returned home by itself, putting an end to a disappearance saga that lasted 7 days.

Houdini, as he is affectionately referred to, crawled back into his terrarium after his adventures. The deadly snake, whose official name is Sir Vass (Sir Hiss in Swedish), had escaped in late October via a gap in the ceiling of its glass enclosure at the aquarium. He was found later that week thanks to intensive X-ray scanning. Handlers weren't able to capture him, however, as the snake slid away from view once again.

It is suspected that Houdini returned to his terrarium due to the stress of outdoor life and the cold climate. Handlers say that he wouldn't have been able to survive winter if he hadn't returned.

King Cobras are native to warm countries such as India, Indonesia and the Philippines and can grow up to 18 feet long.
