NASA's Artemis moon mission launches from Kennedy Space Center at Florida's Cape Canaveral after several postponements.
The historic programme aims to send humans back to the lunar surface for the first time in 50 years.
NASA hopes to build a base camp on the moon and conduct annual missions, in which Astronauts could stay there for weeks or even months at a time. Using it as a test bed for even more ambitious missions, starting with getting a human to Mars.
After launch controllers at Cape Canaveral conducted the countdown, the team at Mission Control Center in the Texas city took over until the Orion pod, splashes back down to Earth in the weeks ahead.
