A female platypus is struggling to survive in a drought-ravaged Australia. After a year of scarce water, she finds a river when autumn rains finally arrive. Using her electroreceptors in her bill, she hunts and enjoys a quick meal.

Platypuses are ancient mammals with unique features, combining traits of mammals, birds, and reptiles. This female platypus is ready to mate, but the deforestation of the area makes it difficult to raise her young. She moves upstream to a safer location, where unfortunately, predators like foxes have posed a threat to platypuses since their introduction to Australian by settlers.

After mating with a male, she builds a burrow and lays eggs, incubating them until they hatch. Unlike other mammals, she feeds her babies milk from her belly, as she lacks nipples. Her milk contains antibacterial proteins to protect her young.

After four months, her babies grow independent and leave the burrow to start their own lives. The cycle of life continues, with the platypus persevering despite challenges like drought, deforestation, and predators.
